Tongits at Jilit
There's something deeply Pinoy about Tongits. Growing up, you probably played it at a relative's house during holidays, or at a sari-sari store on a slow afternoon, or during long barrio nights when the lights finally came back on after a brownout. It's a game that's woven into the fabric of everyday Filipino life.
At jilit, we took that game and put it exactly where modern Pinoys spend most of their time — on their phones. The jilit Tongits experience is designed to feel familiar from the first hand. Same rules your lolo taught you, same rush when you declare Tongits, same competitive edge when you're trying to figure out what your opponents are holding.
What jilit adds is the convenience of playing from anywhere — whether you're on the MRT commute, during your lunch break in BGC, or chilling at home after a long day — plus the very real possibility of taking home significant winnings, paid directly to your GCash wallet within minutes.

Already know the game? Tara na. First time? Here's everything you need to start playing and winning at jilit.
Tongits is played with a standard 52-card deck among 2 or 3 players. Each player is dealt 12 cards at the start (the dealer gets 13). The remaining cards form the draw pile in the centre.
On your turn, draw a card from the pile. Form melds (sets of 3+ same-rank cards or sequences of same-suit cards) from your hand. Then discard one card face-up. Other players can "burn" the discard to add it to one of their existing melds.
Win instantly by melding your entire hand — that's Tongits! Or call a "Fight" (Sagot) when you think you have the lowest unmelded card count. All players then reveal their hands and the lowest unmelded points wins the fight.
Win the round, collect the pot. Instant Tongits declarations earn a bonus multiplier. At jilit, winnings are credited to your account immediately and can be withdrawn to GCash or Maya right away.
Win Conditions
Not all Tongits wins are the same. Here's how each win type is scored and paid out on jilit.
Multipliers apply to the base pot amount at the table. Check individual table rules on jilit for exact payout structures.

Track what your opponents are discarding and burning. If someone repeatedly discards high-value cards in the same suit, they're likely not building a sequence there. That information helps you decide whether to hold onto cards or let them go.
Calling Sagot too early is one of the most common mistakes. Wait until you're confident your unmelded count is genuinely the lowest at the table. If you call and lose, the penalty hurts your stack at jilit. Patience here pays off.
Instead of committing to one specific meld early, keep your hand flexible. A card that works for both a set of three and a potential sequence is twice as valuable. At jilit's faster tables, flexibility wins more often than rigid early commitment.
If an opponent's hand looks thin, watch for signs of an incoming Tongits declaration. Don't let them burn your discards to complete their final meld. Holding certain "bait" cards that you suspect they need can delay their win and give you time.
If you're new to jilit or playing against unfamiliar opponents, start at the ₱50–₱200 tables to get a feel for pace and timing. Move up once you're comfortable — jilit has tables for every bankroll level.

The Jilit Tongits Guide
Tongits is one of those games that needs no introduction to any Filipino — but it does deserve a proper explanation for players who are new to playing it online with real money. The transition from a neighbourhood game played with a physical deck to an online platform like jilit changes a few things, but the core of what makes Tongits special stays the same: it's a reading game. A psychology game. A memory game dressed up as a card game.
The obvious advantage of playing Tongits at jilit over a physical game is convenience. You don't need to find two other people, a deck of cards, and a table. You open the app, pick a table, and you're dealing within seconds. But there are deeper advantages too.
Online Tongits at jilit moves faster. There's no shuffling, no dealing miscount, no disputes over card visibility. The interface handles all of that automatically, which means you play more hands per hour than you ever would in person. For players who want to build experience quickly, that speed is a massive advantage.
Jilit also provides a game history feature that lets you review your recent hands — something impossible in a physical game. Reviewing where you went wrong in a losing round, or what patterns you can spot in your own decision-making, is one of the most underrated tools for improving at Tongits.
New players often think of Tongits as a purely luck-based game because cards are dealt randomly. Experienced players know that the real game happens in the discard pile. Every card you throw down is information you're giving your opponents. Every card you pick up from the discard tells the table something about what you're building. The best Tongits players at jilit are the ones who control this information flow.
The classic mistake is discarding a card that completes an opponent's meld. If you've been watching closely and notice that an opponent has burned two 7s already, holding your own 7 until you can meld it yourself — rather than discarding it — might be the difference between winning and watching them go Tongits. That kind of subtle awareness is what separates casual players from the serious ones you'll encounter at jilit's mid-to-high stake tables.
If you're the competitive type, jilit's regular Tongits tournaments are where things get really interesting. These are structured events where players buy in for a fixed amount and compete across multiple rounds for a prize pool shared among the top finishers. Weekly tournaments at jilit regularly feature prize pools ranging from ₱10,000 for smaller events to ₱100,000 for featured weekend competitions.
Tournament Tongits requires a slightly different mindset than cash table Tongits. In a cash game, each hand is independent — you can leave whenever you want, and a bad hand only costs you that hand's stake. In a tournament, chip preservation becomes important. Being overly aggressive in the early rounds when you're ahead can leave you vulnerable later. The best jilit tournament players balance aggression with patience in a way that cash table players don't always need to think about.
It's easy to get caught up in Tongits — especially when you're on a winning streak. But like any real-money game, the smartest players at jilit set clear limits before they start. Decide your session budget, your win target, and your stop-loss point before you sit down at any table. Stick to those numbers regardless of how the cards are running.
Jilit supports responsible gaming with built-in tools including deposit limits, session time reminders, and self-exclusion options if you ever feel you need a break. These are available from your account settings and can be activated at any time. Playing Tongits should be fun — and at jilit, we want to keep it that way for everyone.
